I couldn’t believe how lucky I was to be picked for this show!
There were over 338 entries and they showed perhaps 40 videos total in-between the commentaries and live performances of Kalafina, BENI and last year’s winners.
Yeah, Kalafina and BENI both watched me sing “Time Goes By” by Every Little Thing LOL
I was the only singer from Canada. Once again, the winning title went to a girl who produced a professional music video. This kind of raise the bar for anyone who wish to win. I’ll have to think about something for next year – and not record my songs only 3 days before the deadline! ^^;
I have recorded the whole show, but here’s the segment that featured my song.
Thank you to everyone who supported and voted for my videos!
I don’t know *which* video(s) they picked but regarless, this is AWESOME! I’ve entered so many contests of this genre and submitted auditions here and there over the years but I was never picked or chosen for anything. So this is pretty cool =D
The ON AIR Schedule are as follows:
4th Jan.(SAT) 02:10, 06:10, 10:10
I am not sure what UTC means though… its not exactly a timezone but I will just tune in and try to catch (and record) the show any way I can!
The show will be available in live streaming on the NHK WORLD website : http://www.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/
EDIT: Moonlight Densetsu has finally been added with a bunch of new entries!
You can watch it here! http://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/songs/aVideo.html?lang=en+1129
Thank you to all of those who took the time to watch my videos – and vote.
I have no clue how or when the winner(s) will be selected – and what we can expect in terms of prizes – but I’ll let you know for sure! ^_^
I learned about this singing contest only 3 days ago and hours away from the submission deadline!
In its second year, “NHK We Love Japanese Songs” let people from outside Japan record little clips of themselves singing the Japanese song of their choice. The clips are then featured on the website for everyone to watch, vote and share.
Last Friday morning, I recorded 3 clips – Moonlight Densetsu, Fuyu no Uta (Kiroro) and Time Goes By (Every Little Thing) and submitted them. Its only this morning that two of my clips were finally published on the website. Funny that they edited them to less than a minute each. When I watched the other entries, most were the equivalent of one verse and one chorus, so most of the songs were about one minute and 30 sec. I based my recordings on that frame as well… Oh well, they kept the best parts so its all good
VOTING is open till December 8th (or one day before for anyone in North America). I am pretty sure the number of votes is not the sole factor in determining a winner but I am sure it can help getting the judges’s attention! We are also only two contestants from Canada and I’d like to be supported by as many Canadians as possible lol!

Enjoy =D (and Thank you!!)

Once again, I am in charge of Canada’s biggest Jpop and anime singing competition: Anime North Idol.
The event is this coming Saturday May 25th at the main event room at DoubleTree Hotel. We will have an audition session in the morning and the grand finale in the afternoon from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm.
Ex-Pinku Project member Berry Risa will be performing the opening number.
Also, don’t miss the performance of our 2012 Idol winner Michelle at the convention Opening ceremony (Friday at 4:00 pm). She will sing again at the finale while the judges are delibarating to pick our new idol!
Please come and cheers for all our finalists!
PS: For those who may be wondering why I won’t be singing, I made the decision to reduce my stress levels for this year and better enjoy myself during the convention. As a singer, I am constantly worried about the condition of my voice, the Japanese lyrics of my song(s), confidence and look on stage and what-not. It is not easy to be a performer while being in charge of an event with a team of +10 staff members, VIP judges and 7 very nervous finalists I don’t require the spotlight at all costs. I am not that kind of person. A successful event with lots of happy people is all I want
The countdown has started for ANIMUSICA 2.0, my Jpop concert at Ganime. I am now rehearsing every other day to make sure I am 100% ready for the big day! I have been pretty lucky so far not to catch any of the colds or flu going around at this moment (who doesn’t know someone’s who’s sick at the moment or who has lost his or her voice?!) so I cross my finger to remain healthy – and keep an healthy voice – until the convention! If you plan on attending the convention, please RSVP to the Facebook Event!
Animusica 2.0 follows the same pattern as the original Animusica show that was presented at Anime Revolution but with new material and the participation of additional vocalists! The show will also feature a 15 minutes long Sailor Moon tribute medley to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Sailor Moon franchise – and the upcoming 2013 anime! I will be performing my debut single “New Horizons” again, as well as an original song writen by my music partner Philip, and adapted in Japanese by Michael Dapello, the Anime North Idol 2011 winner!
Here’s my tentative schedule of appareances at Ganime:
