MEMORIES ~ Original song composed and written by Luc Germain

I replied to an “Audition Call” on STARNOW a few months ago.

A guy from Montreal was looking for vocalists for his symphonic metal/hard rock songs.

Being both originally from Montreal, we instantly clicked and decided to collab on a song right away; MEMORIES.

Here’s the final results after the vocals and the music were mixed and mastered by IRONDOG studio in Montreal. I think it sounds really good and I am really proud of it :)

FROZEN’s “Let it Go” ~ French cover!

I went to see Disney’s FROZEN with my family last week-end.

We absolutely loved it. And so the beautiful songs.

If you haven’t heard it by now, the main theme song for the movie is called “Let it Go” and is performed by Idina Menzel, who plays the tourmented Snow Queen Elsa. The movie had been out for only a few days that covers had already started to pop-up on Youtube, due to the karaoke version being readily available on iTunes.

In the back of my mind, I also wanted to cover this extremely challenging song – but it kind of discouraged me to know that I would had to take and accept criticism for my French accent coming through my vocals in that potential cover.  This is when I found out that France had also released their own version of the song with the French release of the movie. It took me 2 days to learn, record and mix my vocals, and one additional day to polish the song and make the video.

I covered difficult and challenging songs over the past few years but nothing like that one. I accepted ages ago that I was not a “belter” (you know, think Christina Aguilera, Lea Michelle, Charice…) and to just make the best of my voice with what I had – and by happy with it. But covering that song gave me back some vocal confidence I had lost along the way. I am aware my cover is not perfect but how could it be when I am recording in an office, with below-standard recording equipment, a laptop and Ntrack Studio? Disney artists spend days in professional recording booths, with vocal coaches and highly paid sound engineers who can work little miracles with whatever comes out of someone’s mouth.

All that to say that I am pretty proud of myself :)

Stardust Melodia ~ by Irulanne and Rae (duet cover 2013)

There are projects that takes time but its all worth it when you see and listen to the final product.

Few months ago, I recorded vocals for a duet with fellow Jpop cover singer “Rae” for the song STARDUST MELODIA, originaly performed by CEUI and used as the second ending of the anime Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon. The song has a nice “Yuki Kajiura” feel to it and I liked the challenge to cover such a difficult song with a seasoned Kalafina cover artist such as Rae.

Meanwhile, I have also auditionned for an Anison Chorus group called the Althaea Project and was accepted along 9 other Jpop cover singers. With my upcoming trip to Japan, I recorded my lines right away and I am really looking forward the group’s first release!

Note that Stardust Melodia is also available for download (see menu above), on Soundcloud and on Rae’s youtube account.

Irulanne to be featured on “Background Noise” on the Extreme Anime Radio!

Tune in on the Extreme Anime Radio next Monday May 20th at 8:00 pm ET to listen to BACKGROUND NOISE !

Hosted by DJ NefCanuck, the show will feature several of my anime and pop song covers that I recorded through out the years.

This is so awesome! I remember back a decade ago when I was listening to their stream via Live365 (when it was free ^^’), I had very slow internet at that time and it was basically the only way for me to listen to anime songs!

I hope to “see” you there on Monday!

Meanwhile, I am getting ready for Anime North and the Idol event, which I am running once again.

You Are My Love ~ Tsubasa Chronicles Reservoir Cover

I have been performing this beautiful song during my Jpop/anime shows “Animusica” and “Animusica 2.0” but had never took the time to properly record it.

There it is!

You are my love” originally sung by Japanese seiyuu Yui Makino from the anime Tsubasa Choricles Reservoir. Because a karaoke was never released, my music partner Philip came out with this beautiful piano instrumental. I am trully blessed to have been able to record such an emotional and meaningful song.

Hope you can enjoy it as much as I do!

I had also recorded a “test version” of the same song back in February 2012 after I had suffered a severe voice lost (the first in over 5 years!) over the Holidays. It kind of gave my voice a nice raspy tone though :)

Horizons Lointains ~ French version of “New Horizons” from Heileen 3 to be released!

We have recorded a French version of my debut single New Horizons!!

The traduction/translation was provided by a dear friend of mine – Damien Tremollet – with whom I used to sing and fandub back in the early 2000’s.

I am very please with this French version. It has a slightly different feel than the original yet features very meaningfull lyrics and nice vocals.

The song will be available on iTunes this coming Friday March 29th. Don’t forget to download your own copy :)

To be sure not to miss the release, RSVP for the event on Facebook!!!

Meanwhile, don’t hesitate to go follow the adventures of Heileen, a young girl travelling on a pirate ship :)

* * *

Ca me fera vraiment plaisir :)

Pour ne pas manquer l’évênement, RSVP sur facebook !!!

En attendant, vous pouvez toujours jouer à Heileen 3, et suivre les aventures d’une jeune fille sur un bateau de pirate dans les Caraibes.

New singing demo!! :)

I was listening to my 2012 Singing Demo that was featured on the right corner of the website and I was like… I can do better than than! lol :)

That is why I worked on a new song mix with some of my favorite recordings but also the new ones from last year and early 2013.  The goal of this singing demo is to show all my “different” voices and styles, my vocal range as well as my skills in 3 different languages (French, English and Japanese). Who knows, someone may be interested…. ;) I have also used exclusively photos from live performances to demonstrate that I am an expenrienced live performer and that I can take on any stage with lots of presence and charisma.

If you were wondering, the songs performed are the following:
1. Arcane from Ave;new
2. SMILE from My Little Pony Friendship is Magic
3. Garasu no Hana from Ikkitousen Dragon Destiny
4. Danzai no Hana Guilty Sky from Claymore (Riyu Kosaka)

Fighter4Luve Fandub – Ending credit theme “My Best Friends” (Kaze mo Sora mo Kitto…)

After the Sailor Stars opening theme, I worked on the English translation of the Sailor Stars ending theme “Kaze mo Sora mo Kitto…” renamed “My Best Friends”. I have recorded a “credit version” and a “final episode version”. Corey Tsukino, the manager of the fandub, released a teaser a few days ago on the Facebook page of the fandub. Once again, the response has been phenomenal, beyond my expectations. Enjoy the video!
